SLIDER: 1947 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500S

The postwar 6C Alfa Romeo 2500 was a magnet for Italian coachbuilders – and this example was clothed by Stabilimenti Farina in 1947. Its English description was a berlina sport fastback.  This car won the “Best in show” prize, assigned by the visitors, at the 1947 Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza.  The exterior was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, who at that time was working for Farina.  One of the most prolific designers of sports cars of the 20th century, he later went on to work for Vignale, Ghia-Aigle, Scioneri, Monterosa, Viotti and Allemano, before opening his own design studio in 1959.  In Britain, he was best known for his designs for Triumph, including the Herald, Spitfire, GT6, TR4, 2000, 1300, Stag, and Dolomite.
