We are delighted to announce the publication of a new book from Alessandro Silva, a good friend of the SAHB and a speaker at both of the European Conferences, at Mulhouse in 2017 and Den Haag in 2019.
Formula Junior: Made in Italy is published by Fondazione Negri: https://www.negri.it/prodotto/formula-junior-made-in-italy/
Formula Junior was a unique and unprecedented phenomenon that the motoring world could not have foreseen in any way, as such a number of cars, drivers and races in a single category had never been seen before. Over 1300 races were held on five continents between 1959 and 1963. More than a thousand cars participated in these races. To this should be added eleven races held in 1958 regulated by the Italian Formula Junior and over one hundred in 1964/65 held in Scandinavia, the Americas and Asia after the official closing of the Formula. Furthermore, Formula Junior is one of the most popular categories in historic racing today.
This book is dedicated to the Italian contribution to this phenomenon within the broader spectrum of world competitions, and focuses on an analysis and description of the unusually long gestation of the Formula. It aims to provide as completely as possible general information regarding the approximately 60 different brands of Formula Junior racing cars produced in Italy and their technical and production characteristics.
