Can you identify this car?

James Loveridge is asking for help in identifying this car. He can identify the lady: it is his mum, on honeymoon in 1936. So far, opinion is split between a special bodied Morris or Rover.

The registration number is not too clear but we think it is BEL 106, a Bournemouth number issued from May 1935 onwards.

Can anybody help?  If you can, please let us know through the “Leave a Comment” facility at the bottom of this post.

Any information would be much appreciated.

  1. Anders Ditlev Clausager says:

It is an Austin 12/6 Newbury sports tourer or a ditto 10/4 which I think was called the Ripley. They were catalogued from 1933 to 1935.

  2. Paul SHUBSACHS says:

….seems to be an Austin 12/6 “Newbury” of 1934.
